wunderradio WunderRadio Adds Sirius Canada Support

Finally a bit of good news has arrived for those still hurting from the exclusion of Canadian support with the official Sirius XM iPhone App: an updated edition of WunderRadio.

The developers have announced new details of WunderRadio V1.8 through Twitter, detailing advances in audio support (improved MP3 and AAC buffering), stability, and, perhaps most exciting to those of us north of the border, improved support for the oft-ignored Sirius Canada.

The iPhone (and iPod Touch) App is centred on streaming internet radio stations to the mobile device and is available from the Canadian iTunes Store for $6.99.

Stern’s App Absence and Fake Twitter Accounts

twitter Sterns App Absence and Fake Twitter AccountsThis week has finally provided resolution to rumours circling the internet regarding the conspicuous absence of Howard Stern from the recently launched official Sirius XM iPhone App.

After Orbitcast was able to confirm that news coming from Stern show’s Gary Dell’Abate’s (Baba Booey) Twitter account was, in fact, fake and that the real scoop on Stern’s absence was far less colourful than the rumours suggested.

Stern himself confirmed that his programming was left out due to nothing more than a legal snafu involving some red tape involving rights issues. The fact that Sirius XM still showed Howard 100 as an included channel to investors however makes many still wonder whether Stern’s programming is just delayed rather than ruled out entirely.

Volkswagen and Sirius Team Up with 3-Month Free Trial

vw-beetle Volkswagen and Sirius Team Up with 3-Month Free Trial

Volkswagen and Sirius Radio have teamed up to provide one of the best deals on used cars sales and satellite radio service yet offered with a brand new deal recently launched by the companies.

VW has announced to press that it is now providing a complementary 3-month trial of the Sirius Everything package with the purchase of any 2007 (or newer), Certified Pre-Loved models.

Most of these models come equipped with a Sirius satellite receiver regardless (although it’s worth checking if your favourite model comes with a standard receiver or not) and it just seems good business sense to provide such a promotion in light of the Acura, Honda and GM partnership with XM Radio.

Sirius XM iPhone App Tops iTunes Charts

sirius-xm-iphone-app2 Sirius XM iPhone App Tops iTunes Charts

Things continue to look up for Sirius XM Radio with the continued success of its long awaited (and highly anticipated) official iPhone App on the iTunes App Store ratings.

After only twelve hours of download availability the App went on to become the #1 free music application for iPhone users, beating out such longtime favourites as Pandora and Slacker Radio. The App was also declared as the sixth most downloaded free iTunes App of all time.

Even with a lack of Canadian support (and a Howard Stern channel) it continues to appear that Sirius XM has struck a home run in the release of their official App.

Not too shabby, Sirius.

Howard Stern Absent from Sirius XM iPhone App

howard Howard Stern Absent from Sirius XM iPhone App

While the first week of reviews for Sirius XM’s official iPhone App have been mostly positive, many downloaders are still puzzled as to the absence of Howard Stern from the channel listing.

The App has enjoyed almost universal praise and the endorsement of an unprecedented number of iPhone owners but fans are still clamouring for the addition of Stern to the 120 channel line-up.

It seems almost too big of an oversight to credit as a mistake, a fact that makes many observers hopeful that a Stern channel may be forthcoming and that the exclusion is merely due to legal red tape still uncleared.

Sirius XM iPhone App Unavailable in Canada

sirius-xm-iphone-app1 Sirius XM iPhone App Unavailable in Canada

Sirius XM has provided a bittersweet week for Canadian fans of satellite radio, releasing the long anticipated official iPhone App . . . but denying it to subscribers north of the US border.

The iTunes app provides access to 120 satellite radio channels and is available free. It touts all of the features that Sirius XM fans have been awaiting so anxiously and has been marked as the #1 free iTunes download due to immense popularity.

Unfortunately Canadians will have to hope for the acclaimed download to warrant a release apart from the American iTunes App Store if we want to check it out ourselves. Since there has been no official word on a release here in the north we’ll all simply have to wait and keep our fingers crossed.
