Religious Content – Enough Already

Sirius XM

I really am a sucker for punishment. It seems like the more I read about the religious content on Sirius the more I question it.

I see no need for it. I wonder as well what kinds of numbers the stations are getting. Surely this programming can be replaced with something that customers are looking for and want to hear. If the company decides to take another channel out of the picture then it should be one of the religious ones. Enough is enough! This kind of programming has no doubt set a precedent for other religious groups to demand time on satellite radio.

Religious programming seems to find a home more easily on terrestrial radio anyway. There are tons of stations offering their sometimes slanted programming to millions of loyal listeners daily.

I should mention that although I enjoy very little in the way of religious music, the stations that play the music I can deal with. It is the talk stations that I believe can be dealt away with. Maybe even one of the stations. You can probably easily lump Christian Rock, Soul and even Gospel into the one station. You have an underlying theme of worship music with a ton of available music tracks for programmers.

Anyway, that is enough griping from me about programming issues for a little while. Starting next week I am going into writing about some of my favourite artists that are heard regularly on Sirius. Time for some positive postings about some more of my musical heroes. I plan to take this theme up through the middle of September maybe all the way to the end.
