Sirius Radio is now accessible for Sirius Canada customers via applications for the respective smart phones.

Go to the Sirius Canada website section on Mobile at http://www.sirius.ca/en/mobile/. 

Here you can download Sirius radio apps for Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android mobile devices.  Once here click on the respective buttons at the left to download applications for your mobile device.

The apps are free for Sirius customers. If you do not have Sirius radio, you can download the app and enjoy a FREE Sirius radio trial and listen via your mobile device.

With this app you can carry Sirius radio with you pretty much anywhere you go. I realize this may eliminate the need for the Sirius Stiletto radio and the great portable features it has, but rest assured the Sirius Stiletto radio is still an excellent option for home, car and Sirius radio on the go.

The BlackBerry may be in constant competition with Apple’s iPhone but it has at least won one clear victory for satellite radio listeners with the unprecedented success of the Slacker application.

Since the app launched at the beginning of the year it has gone on to receive over one million downloads, critical acclaim and the archival of a 2 million track+ library. Users have responded favourably to the sound development and design, elevating Slacker’s app to enormous success.

Satellite radio fans still waiting on the official Sirius XM iPhone App may have a bit longer to go but BlackBerry owners appear quite happy with the support they’ve received via Slacker.

BlackBerry Storm owners will now be able to enjoy satellite radio feed through the popular Slacker application with the newly developed Slacker Radio. The program is based on the previous installment made popular on older editions of the BlackBerry and hosts some new features to take advantage of the Storm’s strengths.

Slacker Radio is optimized to take advantage of the Storm’s touch-screen functionality and hosts a station catching ability that even the iPhone edition of Slacker lacks. Otherwise the program is essentially the same as the previous versions that made it famous in the first place.

The app can be downloaded for free when accessing slacker.com through a BlackBerry Storm. Unfortunately Slacker currently offers American service only.

There’s another perk for BlackBerry devotees who have decided to forgo the iPhone trend and wait for the release of Storm. Reviews have focused on many excellent aspects of the web phone but a recent report in the Toronto Star discussed satellite radio functionality as a hidden gem among the options.

BlackBerry Storm’s application store allows users to pay a monthly data transfer sum which includes access to streaming media, rumoured to include satellite radio soon enough.

The Storm review focused on the reviewer’s ability to listen to Howard Stern through the device but there is no word yet on whether Sirius subscribers will be able to stream radio channels through their BlackBerry.
