Forget the Official Sirus XM App: WunderRadio Provides Canadian Service

For those Canadian iPhone owners sick and tired of waiting for access to the Sirius XM iPhone App north of the border it may be time to download a different program which functions just as well and is already available.

We mentioned WunderRadio previously when news was surfacing of their Version 1.8 release, an upgrade which has now been released with fixed bugs and vast improvements, making it into the best platform for streaming Sirius Canada.

With a price tag of only $6.99 at the iTunes Canada Store, WunderRadio v.1.8 is definitely the best App for those frustrated with the continued wait and is well worth the download.

StarPlayr Retires from Satellite Radio

Satellite radio software developer, StarPlayr, has announced their retirement from the industry after acting as the veritable leader of the field in previous years.

After numerous delays on their upcoming uSirius StarPlayr satellite radio iPhone App, Sirius XM Radio began work on their own, officially developed submission for the mobile device.

Now, StarPlayr has been left in want of a new, worthwhile venture. Their rejection by the iPhone App Store may very well have been the final straw for the company, causing their retirement from satellite radio developement.

Although the company hasn’t released an official reason for their decision, recent events seem to provide a clear enough picture of the cause.

Sirius XM iPhone App in Beta Stage

After reporting on the delay of Sirius XM’s upcoming iPhone App, the long awaited program seemed to be stuck in development limbo. Now good news has surfaced as press releases have confirmed the applications arrival at the beta stage.

Satellite radio fans have been waiting nearly a year for promising informaiton on the App and now sources have revealed that the wait may nearly be over.

The program would allow iPhone and iPod Touch users a free download and access of the same service broadcast online from the radio giant. Subscribers would not incur any extra fee (beyond the boosted online rates) for using the App.

Sirius XM Increase Internet Presence

Sirius XM have been making big steps to improve their business model through an increased emphasis on their internet presence. After increasing the fee for online listening and working hard on an official iPhone App, Sirius seems to be hoping that the internet market can boost their business.

Now the company is rumoured to launch several more, internet-based services. The Roku streaming platform (pictured above) may include native Sirius XM support as part of this focus.

The Boxee service is another of Sirius’ intended targets. Boxee is an OSX/Linux network that allows for streaming audio access through laptops and/or HDTVs. With a Windows release forthcoming, Sirius XM may be just in time to capitalize on its success.
