Sirius Radio is now accessible for Sirius Canada customers via applications for the respective smart phones.

Go to the Sirius Canada website section on Mobile at http://www.sirius.ca/en/mobile/. 

Here you can download Sirius radio apps for Blackberry, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android mobile devices.  Once here click on the respective buttons at the left to download applications for your mobile device.

The apps are free for Sirius customers. If you do not have Sirius radio, you can download the app and enjoy a FREE Sirius radio trial and listen via your mobile device.

With this app you can carry Sirius radio with you pretty much anywhere you go. I realize this may eliminate the need for the Sirius Stiletto radio and the great portable features it has, but rest assured the Sirius Stiletto radio is still an excellent option for home, car and Sirius radio on the go.

Considering that the official Sirius XM Radio iPhone App is still going to require a bit of waiting on the part of Canadian satellite radio fans, the existence of ooTunes, a cheap and viable alternative, may be just the answer.

ooTunes offers internet radio service from across the globe, allowing listeners to tune in to almost any available channel anywhere in the world, including Sirius and XM Canada programming.

Although the download isn’t necessarily of comparable quality to the official App already released on the American iTunes Store, ooTunes is definitely worth a shot for frustrated radio fans willing to try something new for only $2.99.

Members of the Digital Home Forums have received information that, while Sirius Canada can expect the App to arrive in the future, XM Canada users may be left out in the cold.

XM sent a statement (the entirety of which can be read through the link below) detailing their plan to provide satellite radio service only through Rogers and/or Telus smartphone customers.

Although it was released only a few short weeks ago, the official Sirius XM iPhone App has garnered an exceptional level of popularity from the user-base of the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The biggest news in the continuing success story of the Sirius XM iPhone App is the iTunes Store statistic of the program reaching over one million user downloads since it’s launch date of June 18th 2009.

Although Canadian users are still unable to access the service the immense popularity of the program suggests that a launch allowing Canadians to download the application would be a major success for the company.

Finally a bit of good news has arrived for those still hurting from the exclusion of Canadian support with the official Sirius XM iPhone App: an updated edition of WunderRadio.

The developers have announced new details of WunderRadio V1.8 through Twitter, detailing advances in audio support (improved MP3 and AAC buffering), stability, and, perhaps most exciting to those of us north of the border, improved support for the oft-ignored Sirius Canada.

The iPhone (and iPod Touch) App is centred on streaming internet radio stations to the mobile device and is available from the Canadian iTunes Store for $6.99.

The uSirius StarPlayr application is still undergoing Apple’s review process and is taking longer than many fans were hoping to clear.

While press releases make the app sound technically stable, Apple may take some time longer before they determine the uSirius program as adequately ready for commercial release for iPhone owners.
