The Sirius FM-5 Satellite was previously launched into outer space and now, roughly two or three months later, the satellite has been established in orbit around earth.

The satellite was launched by Sirius XM Radio in order to improve satellite reception and performance but, for many users, the result may not be large enough to warrant the exceptional cost entailed by launching the Sirius FM-5.

Sirius XM Radio promised that metropolitan areas especially would enjoy greater reception from the new satellite. The Sirius FM-5’s orbit is meant to allow more users to access solid signal strength, regardless of where you are.

Green Day fans will want to make sure to mark their calenders for this coming weekend as the famous pop-punk band plans to host programming on Sirius XM Radio.

The Sirius XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown this weekend will be entirely hosted by Green Day, the band introducing each of the top forty-five songs and sharing their views on the nation’s current favourite songs.

Green Day will also host Sirius XM’s Hit-Bound, helping to showcase new songs from up-and-coming artists while broadcasting their views on the newest bands, a massively popular group discussing unsigned, indie and international artists.

Sirius Radio Canada has begun to broadcast the 2009 NFL Season for satellite radio subscribers, providing outstanding coverage of the entire year of football from beginning to finals.

Beginning on Thursday, September 10th, Sirius NFL Radio began to offer play-by-play coverage of every game and will continue to air in-depth football radio as the season takes listeners through the play-offs and all the way to Super Bowl XLIV scheduled to take place in South Florida.

Listeners can tune into the 2009 NFL Season through Sirius NFL Radio, channel 124, a fully-devoted station that broadcasts twenty-four hours a day all throughout the year.

As school starts and summer draws to an unofficial close Sirius XM listeners were treated to a special long weekend full of Labour Day programming.

Special broadcasts were available across many channels including an highly appropriate show from The Spectrum (on Sirius channel 18 and XM channel 45) and their Labour Day Weekend with the American Secretary of Labour.

E Street Radio (Sirius channel 10 and XM channel 58) took a different approach to the holiday weekend by playing summer-themed Springsteen classics, celebrating the end of the season with a number of great songs.

There were plenty other theme-appropriate shows as well, all working together to make Labour Day on Sirius XM Radio a great choice for long-weekend listeners.

The upcoming XM SkyDock has received plenty of attention from fans of Sirius XM Radio wanting to get the most out of their iPhone, iPod Touch and download of the official Sirius XM iPhone App and now the company has released further details of the upcoming product.

The XM SkyDock is a complete satellite radio receiver with an embedded XM chip, allowing iPhone or iPod Touch users to control the radio service from the Apple device itself rather than an independent receiver unit.

An upcoming App, the XM SkyDock App will be available free and the XM SkyDock itself will retail for $119.99 beginning this Fall.

Sirius XM Radio has released yet another satellite radio receiver with the XM-OnyX dock-and-play, complete with a host of features and sleek additions to classic designs.

The XM-OnyX is equipped with a high-res display and is customizable with different coloured trim and backlighting in order to help match the receiver to a car interior’s aesthetic.

Sirius XM has had the XM-OnyX set up to make for easy installation in any automobiles (using a freshly unveiled and patent-pending system) and hosts a number of top-of-the-line features including favourite channel saving and One-Touch Jump city updates for major populaces.

The Sirius Stratus 6 offers every channel package currently available from Sirius XM Radio without any extra bells-and-whistles, even including options such as the popular The Best of XM selection.

To maintain a low price the Sirius Stratus 6 offers few frills and has no colours included on the display. It does host a blue backlit screen, up to ten favourite channel savings, One-Touch Jump traffic/weather and an universal docking feature (for use in automobiles, etc.).

In one of the strangest cases of radio censorship in quite some while, Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas has begun to have certain lyrics obscured during radio play.

Instead of it being any expletives, terrestrial radio has censored the word “satellite” from the verse “Here we go/Here we go/Satellite radio”, replacing the apparently offensive term with an obscure sound.

Apparently the use of “satellite” has been taken as a sort of advertising plug, despite the fact that it reflects a medium only, not a single corporate entity (although it could be argued that Sirius XM Radio is the only real option for satellite subscribers currently available).

Quentin Tarantino, writer/director of the new film Inglorurious Basterds, appeared on Sirius XM Radio’s Underground Garage in order to share some of his favourite music with fans last Friday, August 21st.

Tarantino hosted the show, playing and discussing some of his favourite songs, many of which served as the background music and inspiration for his newest blockbuster movie.

The special was originally aired on Little Steven’s Underground Garage (Sirius channel 25 and XM channel 59) but was re-broadcast several times throughout last weekend on The Spectrum (Sirius channel 18 and XM channel 45) and Alt-Nation (Sirius channel 21 and XM channel 47).
