NiceMac Provides Official Explanation of Sirius iPhone App

NiceMac has finally gone public regarding the death of its Sirius iPhone App and the reason behind the StarPlayr creator’s decision to leave the development field altogether.

While many have already speculated on NiceMac’s move to leave behind Sirius player development, the company itself has now officially confirmed that the move was directly based on the February rejection of their uSirius iPhone App by Apple.

Both NiceMac and Sirius XM Radio had been under a mutual non-disclosure agreement over the last nine months and the uSirius deal may have been killed by NiceMac’s plans to strike out on their own as a 3rd party developer at the beginning of this year, a move that may have been the reason behind their satellite radio application’s rejection.

StarPlayr Retires from Satellite Radio

Satellite radio software developer, StarPlayr, has announced their retirement from the industry after acting as the veritable leader of the field in previous years.

After numerous delays on their upcoming uSirius StarPlayr satellite radio iPhone App, Sirius XM Radio began work on their own, officially developed submission for the mobile device.

Now, StarPlayr has been left in want of a new, worthwhile venture. Their rejection by the iPhone App Store may very well have been the final straw for the company, causing their retirement from satellite radio developement.

Although the company hasn’t released an official reason for their decision, recent events seem to provide a clear enough picture of the cause.

StarPlayr Sirius XM iPhone App Not Accepted by Apple

Satellite radio fans with an iPhone were disappointed recently as Apple denied acceptance to the promising StarPlayr Sirius XM application. While the software’s inability to pass the first test doesn’t necessarily mean that we will never see it surface on the device, iPhone and iPod Touch owners are going to have to wait a little longer to grab it.

The uSirius StarPlayr application is still undergoing Apple’s review process and is taking longer than many fans were hoping to clear.

While press releases make the app sound technically stable, Apple may take some time longer before they determine the uSirius program as adequately ready for commercial release for iPhone owners.

Sirius XM Submit iPhone App to Store

Good news has arrived for satellite radio fans with iPhones. Sirius XM has finally submitted their foray into the popular gadget’s application store with the recently developed, uSirius StarPlayr.

The application is set to allow iPhone owners to enjoy the same level of access made possible through other, satellite specific receiving devices. The uSirius platform has been developed from the ground up for iPhone users however and is based on the success of StarPlayr’s other satellite radio efforts.

Although other satellite radio applications have already been released for the iPhone (like the notable and free Slacker and Pandora apps) it will be worth watching how the uSirius program pans out upon release.

NiceMac Team Welcomes New Management Addition

The NiceMac team (responsible for Starplayr and StarLight) are welcoming the addition of Jason Millard to their staff of renowned satellite radio developers. As the previous head of Millard Software, designer of successful iPhone apps, the NiceMac staff are set to receive a great boost in ideas and management with their new member.

Jason Millard previously worked on the uSirius and uXM software titles which found success on the iPhone (much like the StarPlayr application for the device).

He is joining NiceMac as an equal partner and will be able to use his experience to help make satellite radio more accessible for mobile gadgets.

StarLight and StarPlayr Satellite Radio Players Launched

StarPlayr, the online satellite radio client has finally released a version of their software for Mac users. The Starlight (Mac edition) of the Sirius Internet Radio program has arrived at the same time as the Windows Mobile version, both of the options featuring updated graphics and a cleaner design.

The software allows for compact yet well detailed access to internet satellite radio through computers. Additional content such as album art, lyrics and customizable fonts all add up to make either release of the StarPlayr software well worth looking into.

A full release of Mac’s Starlight is slated for December 12th.
